Rename Software Distribution and Caroot2 Folder

First Press Win + R, Type services.msc and hit enter key. On Widows Services Scroll down and look for windows update service, Right click on it and select stop. Again Look for Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) Right click and select Stop. Now minimize the Services window.
Now use this path to open SoftwareDistribution folder: C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution. Here you can Right click and Rename the folder to Softwaredistribution.old. ( Widnows automatically create a new folder named Softwaredistribution to store update files ) or open software softwaredistribution folder and delete all the files from this Folder. Do the same with Caroot2 folder.

After That Again Open Windows Services and Start Services Which you stopped before. Simply Right click on Windows update service and select Start again Right click on Background Intelligent Transfer Service select start.

Reset Update components using command prompt

You can Do the Same process using Windows command prompt. First open Admin Command prompt and type commands bellow one by one and hit enter key to execute the command.
Type Net Stop wuauserv and Type net stop bits to Stop Widnows update and Background intelligent transfer service. Now to rename Software Distributuion Folder and Caroot2 foldre Type


Ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old
Ren C:\Windows\System32\catroot2 Catroot2.old
This will rename both folders, again restart the services using command net start wuauserv and net start bits.
That’s All Now Close Command prompt and Restart windows. Then Again Try to upgrade Windows 10 Fall Creators update Version 1709. I hope This time window install upgrade successfully without any error or stuck.

Run DISM command to fix frozen Windows Update

Corrupted system files, damaged OS files also can cause Different problems while upgrade to new Windows version.
