Microsoft is releasing a new build of Windows 10 to Insiders in the Fast Ring today. The company is today pushing out build 17107, a Redstone 4 build, to all Insiders in the Fast Ring.
Redmond released the first ever Redstone 5 build to Insiders part of Skip Ahead last week, although the company isn’t releasing any Redstone 5 build this week. So the latest build is only for those still in Redstone 4.
In terms of new features, there isn’t much to be excited about. There is, however, a critical change to how Windows Update works. Right now, your device will go to sleep when it’s inactive while Windows Update is downloading a new update, which could slow down the installation process in some cases. This is something that annoys me quite a lot when installing Insider builds on a test machine as I only use those for testing out new features and they are mostly not in active use. With this update, however, Windows Update will keep your PC awake for up to 2 hours as long as your device is connected to power, which should speed up the installation process without any interruptions.
